About the Project
Mind is a fast paced musical telling the tale of five people wrongfully incarcerated in a mental asylum.
Locked away due to trauma, deceit and being misunderstood, these people show strength in the face of
adversary.
Banding together they keep their faith in themselves and each other as they stand strong to escape
the doctors trying to convince them of their insanity.
Peter and Paul, being the only survivors in their tank explosion find themselves, struggling to cope; guilt over
their survival driving them to the asylum.
Magda, falsely accused of being crazy after a sexual assault, is locked away; struggling to prove her
accusers wrong and Evelyn, unable to face the harshness of reality, prefers to live in her own mind.
Lionel, the silent patient at the end of the corridor is shrouded in mystery. Refusing to talk, he stays
locked in his room, secluded from others. Avoided by the doctors, they leave him alone, pretending he isn’t
there other than to deliver him meals.
But, when a visit from Joshua Borome sends everything into chaos, tensions run high and the
unimaginable happens.
Finally, forced to acknowledge Lionel’s existence, Miriam turns to her electric shock treatment to keep
him under control. But it has a completely opposite effect.
What ensues is something that leaves them no choice but to question their reality and accept that
there are more things in existence than they want to believe, Including the legendary figure, LEGION!
Based on well known biblical figures, ‘Mind’ speaks to people questioning the world around them and
looking for strength in the face of disasters.

Characters:
Paul Fisher – Commander of a military tank who narrowly escaped a bombing with his life. (Asylum patient)
Peter Saint – Crew member of Paul Fisher and only other survivor: Officer in the tank. (Asylum patient)
Magda Follows – Aspiring recording artist, sexual assault and bombing survivor. (Asylum patient)
Evelyn Eden – Introvert, fantasist who has a problem with reality. (Asylum patient)
Lionel Geniol/Legion – Unpredictable, biblical character who craves power and has the ability to control
electricity and transform his physical shape.
Joshua Borome – The Minister of culture. A sly character who takes what he wants with disregard for others
and lies to benefit himself.
Doctor Miriam – An intelligent woman who craves control of others and loves electric shock therapy.
Doctor Lilith – Preferring to relinquish control to Miriam, she helps run the asylum and keep patients under
control.
